It is very important to choose right school for your kids before you move into the neighborhood. However i do not trust school statistics you can find online anymore. As a realtor in illinois i have to refer my clients to those school evaluation web sites but i never do because of personal experience with my kids. I suggest my clients to visit the school and talk to principal and teachers before enrolling their kids into a new school. My son was absolutely miserable in high ranked school in our old city, where teachers do not encourage kids to be creative and absolutely happy in his new school where teachers are very friendly and encourage him to try his best, new school is not high ranked school , but my son loves it. Also you might not be aware of this but in Illinois you can choose which school your child wants to attend within the same school district, so when you buy new home, be aware that you can legally change school than one listed on your new home MLS listings if your school remains within same school district
